You know you've been hit hard when?

Yesterday I posted a WhatsApp status saying "Some people know how to kick a man when he is down. Fortunately, some of us know not to fall on our faces so as to see the punches".See on Christmas day my landlady decided to make a scene in front of my family and friends by kicking me out with immediate effect.Yesterday I was kicked out of my business at school and the reason was "New year, new Principal and new staff"And today I have a three-day notice on my other business at the taxi rank by my landlord and so I say "You know when you've been hit hard when all the above bombard you".All I will do is to make sure I don't fall on my face.SisonkeKeep strong and keep praying ZonersSee More

SMME and back

When we found our shop like this (lookup) after the lootings and we had to dig deep in our shallow pockets just to stay afloat. Life seemed unfair and super biased. We hung on for dear life (as should a good entrepreneur during such times) as the dream is not just to sell to school children but to open our own Kasi (township) Diner hence "Angie's Diner" and if it grows to a restaurant, who am I to say NO.Then out of the blue, an angel from Youthzones gave me a call and explained that they didn't have much but they might be able to help if we let them. Now my shop looks like this. Thanks to Youthzones and BE we are on our way towards our dreams. This business used to employ temporal youth like:Thembinkosi, Realeboha, Thabiso = for…See More

Shop burglary (Risk and Reward)

As a scholar or a start-up you only hear these words and they are just words you need to learn and understand until actually have to live them.Yesterday I was forced to understand the "risk" of being an entrepreneur when I found my shop broken into and everything stolen from the stock to the cooking equipment, they even stole the lock they broke.Mind you this is a shop inside a school in Orange Farm and the schools are three days away to re-open and this pandemic has seen us draining all our savings and using the last to stock up for the school opening. To say we are devastated would be an understatement. We don't know any government department to go to and we had never received any relief from them either, whether individually or as a business. We were thinking of crowdfunding but we think it might be too short notice. We are now open for any ideas, help or assistance on to get back on our feet.Thank youSee More

...and she appeared

It was a Thursday afternoon while I was preparing for Doc's arrival at Orange Farm on Friday. my son(15 yrs) was robbed blind of all our stock money for our little spaza shop.See, he was holding forte for me while I was busy with the community trying to Identify families that are hit the most by this Covid-19 pandemic. Families that deserved the food parcels Doc was to bring the following day. I was shocked and angry at the same time when he(my son) came crying accompanied by two community leaders that I work with when they told me the story. Funny enough, one of the perpetrators claimed to know me and my son recognized him from when we used to work at Orange Farm ext 9. We were so lucky Doc was coming to bring us food parcels the following day or else we wouldn't have survived that month. When the giving of food parcels was done and dusted, It was time to think of a strategy going forward on how to provide for the family in these tough times. It was just before the end of the weekend…See More

Zebra Crossing Launches

When a dear friend called the day before to say “can you please come to the office at 8am tomorrow”.these are the leaders that heeded the call.Non of us expected to be part of a history making project.Zebra Crossing is the name.It was heart warming when Doc expressed his gratitude to the leaders and Tom Smith (the big boss) from FGK was pleasantly surprised when he heard that this project was launched today and he met old members of Youthzones that attended. This project aims to empower us all and integrate us township members with the suburban members.for us to learn not to be beggars but make life long friendships.Thank you to all the Gauteng leaders who could make it to the launch and thank you to Youthzones for the opportunity. As Doc always say “you make your own luck”See More

About an hour ago I was with the ward councillor and he gave me a go ahead on a space I sow for a netball court. Next phase, get poles, get balls; but tomorrow, get the guys and shovels and get working.
