Sasol Bursary Scheme 2014

The Sasol Bursary Scheme boasts an all-inclusive package recognised in South Africa for being highly competitive and aims to attract exceptional young talent to the organisation. Bursaries awarded are for full time university studies inengineeringscience and commerce disciplines. Upon successful completion of the study period, students will be employed within the Sasol Group through itsGraduate Development Programme.

The Bursary Scheme is a talent based scheme, as a result, only applicants who meet the minimum criteria will be invited to a selection interview. It is a comprehensive package that covers both financial as well as developmental support throughout the study period. All applications are done electronically, not only to speed up the selection process but also to ensure fairness and electronic tracking of applications received within a particular period.

Consequently, Sasol gives preference to those candidates with an exceptional academic record who also participate in extra curricular activities. Due consideration is also given to those individuals from disadvantaged backgroundswho meet our minimum requirements. Applications for a Sasol bursary close on 29 February 2013.

The number of Sasol bursaries awarded each year is dependent on the business need. Consequently, failure to secure a Sasol bursary is not necessarily due to poor performance on the part of the applicant but may be a reflection of insufficient business demand. Sasol is a petrochemical company and hence the majority of bursaries awarded are in the engineering, science and commerce fields listed under fields of study.

What does a Sasol bursary include?

The Sasol bursary is a comprehensive bursary which includes the following:

  • 100% of the prescribed university tuition fees, registration fees and exams fees.
  • An amount equal to the average rate for accommodation in a single room at a university hostel at the university at which the sasol bursar is studying. This rate is determined by sasol in conjunction with the university.
  • An amount for meals based on three meals per day as determined by the university.
  • An amount of approximately R8000,00 per annum, towards book and pocket money.

Fields of study accommodated by the Sasol Bursary Scheme:

The Sasol bursary scheme offers bursaries on the basis of a service binding contract after graduation for a periodequal to the tenure of the bursary.

Please follow this link to read more about who can consider applying for this Bursary Scheme.

Note: No bursaries are awarded for fields of study not listed on the Sasol site.

Bursaries are not always awarded in each field of study every year. Applicants should submit an application based on a real interest in the field and not only because they may secure a bursary.
