Laureus YES Durban leaders visits the LIV Village

On thursday the 31st of August 2014, the Laureus Youth Empowerment through Sport Durban hub leaders spent the day with the orphaned children that stay at the Lungisisa Indlela Village just outside Durban. The weather was not the best but despite that the young leaders were able to wow us all with their impressive energetic behaviour when we played games and discussed life skills. This touched me as I realised once again that no amount of money can close the need for affection and attention a child requires from us all.

These kids (the children of Africa) are the future of our continent and if we continue ignoring them, we will not have a future. So often we act as if we cannot see that family headed by a teenager, so often we drive by and close our windows in disgust when we see a street kid begging for food when they should be at school.

We do all these ridiculous things because we want to conform to what everyone else is doing; such cowards we have become!
