Chef in Dubai from Mabopane Informal settlement

I could not believe what I was hearing when I heard that one of my youth friend in Mabopane Youthzone site is going to Dubai for two years as a chef this weekend. This lad comes from humble beginnings and he is just like any boy in the community. What is stunning about Harold Mantshoane is that he hangs around with other boys and he is just like any normal boy in Mabopane. While I was coaching the teams yesterday I spoke about him and how possible is anything if you put your mind and heart into. And believe, stay hopeful and love what you do and work hard. And what is interesting is that everyone used to laugh at him while he said he wants to be a chef. some will be saying why don't you become a doctor or soccer player. no one stood by his side but he followed his heart. This boy he is coming from challenging environment and he didn't allow that define his life. And he also didn't allow anyone to put him in that corner of saying you are poor or you are so and so.  What keeps me going and enjoying my work is when he said after he met me he was inspired and motivated and he started sending CV's internationally and he got this opportunity. And of course we didn't life skill session yesterday on respect and networking (Unity) after the other youths kept on teasing each other and being negative. We as individuals we impact each other. And there is no one better than the other. And we had very interesting match where the boys played vs girls and believe it or not. The boys had tough time. But at the end of the day was just hanging out together and being a family. No one is got a right to judge the other or to class someone or to think is better than the other or to be a control freak. Nothing is Impossible. And the time is now. And one should not live under fear of anyone or scared of trying or failure. We Can Do It.
